"Garden, Art and Faerie Festival"April 27, 2013 10:00 am - 8:00 pm
Clymer park in Gulfport, FloridaGulfport’s annual Springfest is all new this year.
The 19th annual Springfest will move to the green and tree-covered expanse of Gulfport’s 7.5 acre Clymer Park along the Beach Blvd. approach to the City’s historic waterfront district. The event is co-produced by the Gulfport Area Chamber of Commerce, the City of Gulfport and the Gulfport Merchant’s Association.
The theme of the event is also new this year, introducing Springfest as a “Garden, Art and Faerie Festival.” For one day only, the park will be transformed into an “enchanted village” inhabited by costumed faeries, sprites, gnomes, ogres and trolls.
Renaissance-era characters, gypsies, minstrels, wizards and roving entertainers in costume will also stroll through the event. All visitors are encouraged to join in the spirit of Springfest by donning wings, faerie-tale finery, Renaissance flair or any imagination-inspired attire.
A costume contest will take place to recognize the most colorfully-clad visitors.
The event is free, family and dog-friendly, and open to the public.
Activities and entertainment for all ages will be offered.
Live music will be performed throughout the day.
A wide variety of activities and entertainment will include a May pole dance, a labyrinth, magic shows, a treasure hunt and scavenger hunt.
A children’s area will offer many activities including tiara-making, face painting, pixie dusting, bubble blowing, a “faerie fight” and more.
Live performances of “Makin’ Larvae,” a short “honey bee love story” by Kenny Silkie will take place during four shows.
Vendors will offer live garden plants, garden art, flowers, herbs, Renaissance-period items, clothing, jewelry, art, hand-made crafts and more.
Assorted food and drink vendors will be on hand, and an enchanted beer garden will offer adult beverages.
Free parking is available on site and free trolley rides to and from off-site parking will be offered.
Springfest is customized by SIK Promotions and is hosted by the Gulfport Area Chamber of Commerce.
Co-sponsors include the City of Gulfport, the Gulfport Merchants Association and other community groups.
